In January 2020, I visited Italy on a research trip to sketch and photograph different ruins in Rome. I worked from locations and structures depicted by the 18th century Italian printmaker Giovanni Battista Piranesi.

This book is a documentation of my research as it applies to the creation of a print series.  It also serves to give insight to a process curtailed because of Covid-19.  Losing access to facilities and my assistant mid-project allowed me the opportunity to slow down reflect on my process and revisit the expectations I had for the project.  Assembling this book is the most tangible way for me to process the hiatus.
